AnnaMaria Kardos

My practice questions the relationship of power and control that are inherent to language and objects we use in our everyday interactions within public, educational and corporate settings.

Engaging critically with issues rooted in the institutional context, I keep looking beyond the veneer of how we manoeuvre to expose behaviour, routines and decision making. Having worked in corporate environments makes me particularly aware and responsive to structures and systems. I am interested in underlying mechanisms like authority, discipline and hierarchies that are linguistically constituted and collectively recognised. Working across media and functional spaces my site-related interventions, text-based installations and performative sculptures come inseparably with layers of humour and irony.

AnnaMaria Kardos was born in Budapest, Hungary, grew up in Germany, and lives in London.
She is currently undertaking her MFA at Goldsmiths University.
